De Novo provides high-quality, free legal assistance to low-income immigrants and asylum seekers who are living in Massachusetts in cases involving:

Asylum
Immigrants who have fled their home country because of past persecution or fear of persecution because of race, religion, gender, nationality, social group or political views may be eligible to apply for asylum.

De Novo assists torture survivors, victims of LGBTQ or gender-based violence, and unaccompanied minors, among other special vulnerable populations.

VAWA
Immigrant victims of domestic violence with certain relationships to U.S. citizens or Lawful Permanent Residents ("green card" holders) may be eligible for legal status independently of an abusive spouse, parent or adult child.

T-Visa
Victims of human trafficking, which is the illegal trade in human beings for the purposes of commercial sexual exploitation or forced labor.

U-Visa
Immigrant victims of qualifying crimes who have suffered substantial physical or mental abuse as a result of having been a victim of that crime and have information concerning the criminal activity.

Special Immigrant Juveniles (SIJ)
A special status that allows children under the age of 21 who have been abandoned, abused, or neglected by one or both parents to obtain a green card.

Forensic Evaluations
Through our Counseling Program, De Novo provides forensic psychological evaluations for asylum seekers to document trauma, as well as ongoing counseling to help you deal with abuse, trauma and the adjustment to a new culture.
